The Odyssey

The Odyssey

Robert Fagles

Whew!  A masterful literary piece.  I am grateful to have read The Odyssey at the age of thirty-nine because of Homer’s captivating story of Odysseus’ individual tests and moral endurance, which parallel’s everyman’s voyage through life.

Odysseus, a man of influential wit, esteemed intellect and mighty valor has fought in the Trojan War and yet has a ten-year journey to return home to Ithaca.  Oydysseus must rely on supernatural forces, cunningness, seduction, wiliness for survival to be able to see his wife, son and father once more.
